| Live Piano Show with Ricardo Bala |
 |
Praça da República (Outside the Town Hall)
Ricardo Bala was invited by the Noite Branca Algarve 2008 organisers to do a live piano performance on the pavement right outside the Town Hall. Carried away by the spirit of the event, and displaying his acknowledged musical talent, Ricardo Bala charmed visitors passing that way… |
| White Music |
|
Municipal Market
A project designed especially for the Noite Branca Algarve 2008 event, including a mixture of fado and fusion jazz. This trio, playing Portuguese guitar, viola and double bass, piqued the curiosity of spectators who filled this unexpected venue (the interior of the municipal market). |
| Gymnastics Display |
 |
Av. 25 de Abril
One of the sites chosen for the 2008 event was the Av. 25 de Abril, where two local clubs performed a display of gymnastics. Pyramids and acrobatics in the air and on the ground were just some of the skills that visitors had the opportunity to see. The visitors were impressed by the gymnasts’ excellent performance which attracted an audience of hundreds. |
| Poetry |
Municipal Market
The Noite Branca Algarve 2008 organisers joined forces with the Casa da Cultura de Loulé to present a live poetry recital inside the Municipal Market. In a constant effort to bring art out into the streets, the new concept turned out to be a pleasant surprise thanks to the intimate atmosphere it created for those who attended the recital. |
| Capoeira |
 |
City-wide
Mestre Batata and his pupils were very impressive as they performed to the rhythms of Brazilian Capoeira throughout the Noite Branca Algarve 2008 venue. Music, action and excitement in a travelling Capoeira show that brought movement and friendship to the night’s white setting. |
| DJ Paulo Matos |
 |
Largo de São Francisco
Paulo Matos returned to Noite Branca to perform on a very special DJ set. In the perfect scenario of the Largo de São Francisco, Paulo Matos succeeded in maintaining an impressive rhythm that captivated visitors who passed through the square. Paulo Matos also performed on a shared set with Liliana Campos. |
| DJ set by Liliana Campos |
 |
Largo de São Francisco
Model and TV presenter Liliana Campos was one of the special guests for the night. One of Portugal’s most beautiful women, Liliana Campos accepted the invitation to appear at Noite Branca Algarve 2008 and was the main performer on a DJ set, delighting everyone who had fun in her presence with her smiles, beauty and congeniality. |
| DJ Vasco Fortes |
 |
Cerca do Convento
And what if a place you’ve always known is suddenly completely transformed? That’s just what happened at the Cerca do Convento where Vasco Fortes kept all the visitors entertained until the night drew to a close. With a DJ set in true White Night style, Vasco Fortes provided the sound for the night’s special scenario. |
| VJ Alatak |
 |
Cerca do Convento
Individual words or real images. Images of the night or symbols. Combining forms and colours, Alatak demonstrated his skills, proving that a VJ can do much more than just choose images. The VJ projected emotions on a night when bodies swayed to the rhythm of music and images. |
| Fashion Show by Zéza |
|
Largo de São Francisco
Zéza at her best. After surprising everyone with her 2007 exhibition, Zéza had set very high standards for 2008 and once again showed that she was more than up to the task. Taking her inspiration from wildlife, the artist put together a unique, excitement-filled show that was one of the high points of the night. A moment to be remembered. |
| Nicola Conte - DJ live act |
 |
Matriz Stage
One of the great stars of the night, Nicola Conte was a special guest performer at the Noite Branca Algarve 2008 event. An internationally renowned DJ and master of chill out music, Nicola Conte is considered by many to be the great re-inventor of the DJ concept. On stage, he proved to the thousands of spectators that music is truly special. One of the best in the art of musical performance. |
| Espaço T-Club / Trigonometria |
 |
Jardim dos Amuados
Since the White Night is a special night, we decided to invite one of the Algarve’s most emblematic night clubs to take part in the event. The T-Clube and Trigonometria were our partners for this project and brought a special sparkle to the venue set up in the Amuados Garden. |
| Espaço Nikki Beach |
 |
Loulé Castle (Alcaidaria – Governor’s Residence)
The Nikki Beach concept and brand needs no introduction. Nikki Beach events and venues are known across the globe, and Noite Branca Algarve 2008 was no exception. The magnificent setting of Loulé Castle was the perfect scenario for the Nikki Beach party. |
| Grafitti Live Act |
 |
Av. José da Costa Mealha
Two local artists chose a site next to the Cine-Teatro Louletano on the city’s main avenue in which to focus their imagination using graffiti techniques. The result was a “portrait” of the city yesterday and today, projected in the future. |
| Dança Contemporânea & M-PEX |
Municipal Archive
A project that fitted the Noite Branca Algarve concept like a glove. A group of contemporary dance pupils from the Centro de Expressão Artística do Município de Loulé (Municipality of Loulé Centre for Artistic Expression), joined forces with M-PEX to produce a totally unique show for this event. The movement of their bodies was lulled by the strings of the Portuguese guitar, creating a fusion of elements that blended together in an ideal urban scenario. Life and urban art at their best. |
| Mistura Fina |
Shopping Street (Rua 05 Outubro)
New ideas and new forms. Music, as a constantly changing art, doesn’t need to be inflexible in the form in which it is presented to others. This was the underlying idea of the group Mistura Fina, which performed on a raised structure in the heart of the city’s shopping street. While spectators circulated below, up top the music cascaded like a waterfall of notes. A sheer pleasure. |
| Amar Guitarra |
 |
Largo Bernardo Lopes
Emotions transformed into scores, notes and music. In a “Roman monument” especially built for the purpose, Amar Guitarra used their instruments to tell us stories and show us why music is so special when played from the heart. |
| Nanook |
Rua Maria Campina
A rare case of success and versatility. Amid a constant flow of good-cheer and well-being, Nanook played current music for hours on end. And anyone watching his performance automatically experienced this sensation of well-being. |
| Trio João Ornelas |
 |
Rua Pedro Freitas
Jazz fusion with a special mystique. This was how an attractive venue, with the Municipal Market as backdrop, was filled with good music, free of preconceived ideas and with no other purpose than to put a smile on people’s faces and make them feel good. A great musical moment. |
| Lounge´as Trio |
Av. José da Costa Mealha
Chill out in the purest sense of the word. Why complicate things when music is really so simple? On a stage in the heart of Loulé’s main avenue, Lounge’as Trio, demonstrated the maturity and energy of those who play for pure pleasure. |
| Street Performers |
 |
City-wide
If, in 2007, some thirty street performers were involved in the festivities, in 2008 the number jumped to over fifty. Performers of every kind, shape, size and art took the city by storm, capturing the visitors’ attention. Performers at the Noite Branca Algarve 2008 came from the Satori Artistic Association as well as others, among whom the Jumper Splits and the Globe Dancers stood out in particular!
